The time dilemma: quality versus quantity at home work

Whether parents should seek quality or quantity time with their children is an old debate loaded with all kinds of layers and even judgments about the life choices of others. So it suits us if we always criticize what others do without seeing our own navel!

Instead, it is necessary to experience quality versus quantity through the lens of our own lives, as this is a trade-off that we all experience at times. When you work at home, you can have a chance to better balance the two by making conscious decisions.

If you work from home, you are likely to be lucky enough to be with your child for longer and / or more frequent periods of time. However, much of that time together may also be needed by your job to make ends meet. Because if you neglect work, it is likely that you will not earn the money you need to be able to meet the needs of your family and your home ...

Understanding that being physically present is not the same as spending time together as a family is essential. However, this proximity gives you the opportunity to take breaks during the workday and focus on your kids, rather than multitasking and paying half your attention while you're doing something else.

Work-at-home parents (and all parents) have to multitask sometimes, but they need to multitask wisely and in moderation. Do it when neither your job nor your child suffers from it. Make clear decisions about when you are working and when you are not. Children will wait longer and more patiently for your attention if they trust that they will really get their full attention when you finish what you are doing.
