Education is a fundamental right of children included in the Universal Declaration of Children's Rights, as we saw in the article "10 fundamental rights of children". And not only as education seen as memorization of data, but a comprehensive education in all areas, based on values and skills that make life easier for them. Let's see what are the pillars of education in children.
Self esteem
The self-esteem will determine your emotional health That is why it is so important. It affects all areas of our life and our self-esteem is formed since we are little. Our experiences and how we interpret them make our self-esteem good or bad. And in the self-esteem of children we parents have a lot of responsibility, we are the main attachment figures that the little ones have.
Education should help children learn to know themselves better, to value themselves and to love themselves. To be treated with a correct language without self-criticism or negative language. Teach them that each of us is different and special, that we have our peculiarities and that that makes us unique.

Values
Indeed, it is the parents who must analyze what values we want to plant in our children and work on them, but teachers can also work with values in the classroom. In this way, their learning will be reinforced and they will be more internalized, since they will see it in other children as something normal.
Values such as solidarity, respect, kindness, equality… What they do to control our behavior in a certain direction. According to the values that we have had in our family, that is how they will be when we are older.
In the article "The importance of educating in values" I tell you about the main values that there are, how they influence our lives and some advice on how to educate in values.
Emotional Intelligence
It is vitally important to teach children emotional intelligence. Thanks to her children they will be able to manage their emotions, knowing how to name each one of them, recognizing them in others (which improves empathy) and knowing how to externalize them in a healthy way.
Its importance is such that the emotional education that will determine with great probability whether we will be happy or not, as we saw in the article "Emotional education: predictor of success in life". Many of the emotional problems that exist today in adults would not exist thanks to emotional intelligence: depression, anxiety, addictions ... That is why it is vital to train those in this field, they will have good mental and emotional health, and they will be much happier.
For this, the sooner we start the better. They already start to appear like extracurricular classes, although the ideal is that it was a fixed subject for all children of all ages. When we realize that what matters most is not the data they remember but how they interpret the situations they live and how to manage those emotions, we will know how to give the importance of our emotional health.
Conclusion
Education should be seen as a whole, not just to learn multiplication tables and memorize facts. And for this there must be a joint work of home-school-society, where lines of work are shared among all. It has already been shown that there is more than one type of intelligence although education continues to focus on only one.
Each boy and girl should be educated to get their maximum potential within their differences, respecting their times and it should be something joint between family and school. Learn data, cultures, advances, history but also to tolerate frustration, manage anger and channel pain. Learn to be in solidarity with each other, not to trample on anyone and to respect others and ourselves.
Because remember ... education is a basic right of children.
