Six traditional games to play outdoors with your children

Childish games

Summer is the time of year when children enjoy the most. Summer vacations allow them to relax by forgetting about schedules, routines and responsibilities. In addition, the good weather and the longer days invite you to spend much more time away from home. Whether on the beach, in the pool or in the garden, summer is the ideal time to enjoy open spaces in which to share games that cannot normally be played indoors.

The moments of sharing games with your children are very special since in addition to sharing time together and strengthening the bond with them, you are having fun and the children are learning. Do you remember when as children we played hide and seek, blind man or hopscotch? Those games that we have grown up with are ideal both to enjoy with the family and to play with a gang of friends. So today I bring you these six traditional games to play with your children outdoors.

Dodgeball

play in summer

We form two teams and divide the playing field in two. Each team throws the ball into the opposing court. If a member of the opposing team catches the ball without it falling to the ground, it will belong to that team. If, on the contrary, the opposing team does not catch it and the ball hits him, he will be eliminated and will go to the other field behind the line marked for the prisoners. To be saved, his team must pass the ball to him and with it he must eliminate a member of the opposing team.

Sack-race

A classic of children's games. To carry out you just need some giant garbage bags in which to put the legs. The game consists of moving inside the bag jumping to the finish line. You can organize individual or relay races. Fun and laughter are guaranteed.

Three-legged race

We stand in pairs side by side. The legs of each member of the couple that are left together are tied with a handkerchief. The game consists of running towards the finish line, coordinating as best as possible, so as not to lose balance.

Boiled egg race

Two teams are made and a spoon is distributed among each member of them. The teams are placed in two Indian rows and, when the start is given, one member of each team runs off with the spoon in their mouth and an egg in it. When you reach the finish line you must return to the starting point and place the egg in the next participant's spoon. All this without the egg falling because if this happens they have to return to the starting point.

Hopscotch

Rayuela

With chalks of different colors paint on the ground a path made with numbers to jump them to the lame leg or two feet. Once painted to the taste of the participants, we begin by throwing the stone in square number one, trying to make the stone fall into the square. we will jump each number to the lame leg and the double squares supporting both feet, we will reach the end and we will return to the initial square where we crouch for the stone without supporting the other foot.

The slipper from behind

All the players are placed in a circle, sitting on the ground. One of the players stands outside the circle, shoe in hand, and will spin around while everyone sings the following song:

«To the shoe from behind, tris, after;
You neither see her nor will you see her, tris, after:
look up that beans fall,
look down that chickpeas fall,
To sleep, to sleep, that the Kings are going to come. »

When they finish it, the one standing says a number and everyone closes their eyes counting up to that number. Meanwhile, the player who is standing leaves the shoe behind someone, when they open their eyes whoever sees it has to take it and run after the participant who is standing. To win you must catch him before he sits in the place he occupied on the ground because otherwise the other will have won. The one who loses will be the player who will be standing in the next round.

These games are just a small sample of everything you can do with your children this summer. You just have to remember and remember the games of your childhood. Your children will love that you play with them and you will have a great time as a family.

Enjoy!
