David Calle: the innovative teacher finalist of the Global Teacher Price 2017

If in doubt, the subjects that I was given the worst (by far) were mathematics, physics and chemistry. It was clear that the numbers and I were not going to be great friends. I remember the teachers of those subjects as if it were yesterday. They absolutely all made me nervous and they sapped my confidence. What would have happened if they had changed their methodology? What if they had tried to teach complicated (for me) mathematics in a different way?

Well, that is precisely what David Calle does, the mathematics, physics and chemistry teacher who, through his videos on YouTube, has succeeded in getting students to successfully pass the previous subjects. And how has he done it? With passion, dedication, motivation and accompanying the students on their way. But is it possible to do it from YouTube? Not only is it possible, but David Calle is closer to students than some teachers who teach in conventional classrooms.

For me, David Calle is an engineer with the soul of a teacher

David Calle is an engineer with the soul of a teacher. A few days ago I saw some of his videos and he transmitted to me incredible positive energy and good vibes that not all teachers manage to have with students. You are aware that you are watching him on the computer but he gives a very important feeling of closeness to connect and create a bond with the students (why wouldn't there be a David Calle when I was studying high school?).

Unique, Its online academy and YouTube channel have become a great help for students and also for families. David Calle wanted to help kids with problems and few resources. This is how he began to upload classes in mathematics, physics and chemistry for free with the sole purpose that the students will overcome frustration and regain the desire to learn.

The teacher with more than 700.000 students

David Calle's YouTube channel has exactly 747.800 subscribers. Subscribers who are students who follow you from anywhere in the world. Students who had lost their enthusiasm and excitement for learning. Students who had lost self-confidence and believed impossible to beat mathematics or physics.

Students who thanks to the dedication and dedication of David Calle have recovered that interest in continuing to fight or how he says "Never give up." Students who feel safe again and who have put aside the frustration of not knowing how to do. Students who have forgotten the feeling of being useless and who feel motivated again.

Isn't that what education and any teacher should encourage? Yes, of course it is.

Finalist of the Global Teacher Price 2017

Although he says that he is not the best teacher and that so much recognition overwhelms him, David Calle, andHe is among the ten finalists of the Global Teacher Price 2017, being the only Spanish. For me, bringing a free education to every home, doing it in an innovative way, caring for students and families without resources and with difficulties is more than enough to qualify for the award.

David Calle is humility personified. He started his candidacy at the request of his students and thanks to this he can now earn a million dollars. And what does David want so much money for? Well, to continue promoting Unicoos. To hire teachers of more subjects that he does not master, to have an editor to make the videos better and to translate the classes into more languages.

I'm sure that if he succeeds, math, physics, and chemistry will no longer be a problem or tough bone for students. And that all of them will regain the pleasure of learning.

David Calle is not a youtuber, he is a full-fledged teacher

When reading interviews and articles related to David online, most of them talk about "the youtuber professor." He is not a youtuber. He doesn't use YouTube for entertainment. David Calle uses it to help students and families. To explain the most complicated subjects for students. He is a full-blown teacher: he motivates students, cares and talks to them.

As I said before, David Calle, has known how to use YouTube to bring a free education to students anywhere in the world. He is much more than a youtuber (as we know the concept now). The work he has undertaken is incredibly important and has been so valued that he is running for the Nobel Prize for Professors.

Innovation, simplicity, passion, dedication, motivation, enthusiasm for a different education and dedication. I think that's what characterizes David the most. And what's better than that?
