In 2018, the mandatory vaccination of minors will come into force in France. This measure is intended to increase the vaccination rate, which is very low, and it is because 41 percent (approximately) of French society does not trust vaccines. Until now, the health system of the neighboring country maintains a mixed system of recommended and mandatory vaccines.
Against the anti-vaccine groups, and the spread of diseases that relate them to some side effects (due to the use of preservatives such as aluminum salts); health authorities are in need of information on the reappearance of immuno-preventable diseases due to lower childhood vaccination rates.
In any case, although the Prime Minister (Edouard Philippe) has already made the announcement, the details are still not very well known. For example, French society does not know if the 11 vaccines will be financed 100 percent, or if the regulation will include an exemption clause for families who refuse to have their children vaccinated.
Among other factors that have been decisive in the decision, has been the announcement in Italy that vaccination would be compulsory for minors from 0 to 6 years old who are enrolled in Early Childhood Education of the first or second cycle; in this way it is hoped to increase vaccination coverage.
In the neighboring country, doctors consider it absurd that non-vaccination is considered a decision of individual benefits, since in reality the rebound in diseases such as measles (this same year) has repercussions beyond the family itself. In my opinion, the obligation could cause (at least initially) more adverse reactions in those who distrust vaccines, but everything remains to be seen. What do you think? Do you think it is appropriate to impose vaccination?
